The Airports
JHW - Jamestown is definitelythe closest, but.... only US Airway can get you here and only via Pittsburgh.
BUF - Buffalo is probably the most direct for many. It is an hour and twenty minutes away by car, and a very easy drive.
ERI - Erie is closer than Buffalo (about 45 minutes) and also a pretty easy drive.
The Hotels
Reserve by September 9th!
We have set aside rooms at all three of the hotels below. Let them know you are making a reservation for the Theofilactidis – Singleton Wedding and they will extend you the rates we have negotiated.
Best Western - $65/night. On Third St. across from the new Ice Arena. It’s the newest hotel in town, and also the closest to the Church. Continental Breakfast – with Belgian Waffle – is included. There is a Pool! (716) 484-8400.
Holiday Inn - $75/night. 150 W. Fourth Street. Also near the Church. There is a Pool! (800) 528-8791.
Comfort Inn - $79/night. On Main St. / Route 60. Very close to Alexis’ house and the entrance to the I-86. No pool. (716) 664-5920.
Dining
Forte! - Of course we recommend Todd’s restaurant on Third Street, next door to the Civic Center. We are open on Friday and Saturday nights from 5:30. Not open on Sunday.
Wegmans – On Fairmount Ave. in Lakewood. Easily the best grocery store ever and where we bumped into each other hours before our first date! The best bagels, yummy juices (Bolthouse Farms Fresh Juices), and say “hi” to Martha at the Coffee Bar!
Taco Hut – Just a tortilla’s throw from Forte! With all the usual Mexican fare at a family-friendly price. Full bar, too. Not open on Sunday.
Kaldi’s – Coffee and sandwiches a couple doors down from Forte! with outdoor seating. (Alexis loves the Chai Latte and Chicken Gorgonzola Salad.) Not open on Sunday.
Golden Gate – Fresh and delicious sandwiches made by a sweet couple. Good bread! Not open on Sunday.
Bob Evan’s – Next to the Comfort Inn as you come into Jamestown.
Tim Horton’s – In Brooklyn Square, on the corner of Main and Harrison Streets. Todd’s favorite! 24 Hours.
Friendly’s Restaurant – In Brooklyn Square, on the corner of Main and Harrison Streets. Admittedly not our favorite, but it’s there.
Attractions
Lucy-Desi Museum and Desilu Playhouse – The Museum is right around the corner from Forte!, and the brand-new Playhouse is just down the street on the corner of Main and Third.
Roger Tory Peterson Institute – A beautiful place to take in some nature and maybe a walk.
The Reg – Our beautifully restored Civic Center right next door to Forte! Our local Bunbury Theater Co will be performing Fuddy Meers, a play by David Lindsey-Albaire at 7:30 on Saturday October 8th. Tickets are $10 at the box office.
Kinzua Dam – For nature enthusiasts. Stunning views in the heart of the Alleghany Forest, 6 miles from Warren on Route 59. About a 35-minute drive from Jamestown.
Chautauqua Institution – The mother of all gated communities. The season ended in August, so admission is free and the place is interesting to see. It is right on the lake and sure to have some gorgeous fall foliage going on. A must for history buffs.
Bemus Point -- On good old Chautauqua Lake, and the place where George and Kathy really should live. You can be sure to see them during almost any sunset of the summer. A tourist-y town that is home to Candy and her shop……
Shopping – it may not be Park Avenue, but…
The White Picket Fence – our friend Candy’s cool and hip gift shop in Bemus Point. Follow I-86 West to Bemus Point. If you run out of road, you just passed it. Worth the 10-minute drive! There are a few other shops in that quaint neighborhood, too. You’ll probably see George and Kathy there!
Chautauqua Mall – if you forgot to pack socks, this is probably the place to find some. In Lakewood (5-10 minutes). Usual assortment of mall stores from Radio Shack to Vicky’s! Lots of other retail on Fairmount Ave, too.
