Busy Sunday!

From a playful evening in Warren on Saturday night to a FULL day of activity on Sunday, Stav smiled through the whole thing -- between naps.
Uncle Scott was finally able to meet the newest Singleton and tried his best to introduce him early to Canadian Football.
After Church, we all headed to Grandma and Grandpa's house for a nice lunch. This outfit from Theia Tiffany was the big hit with matching hat, shoes, overa
lls and onesie.

Smile!

Stavros began to smile today. We haven't been able to capture it well but it's there!
Theia Court and Theio Laz were over last night to get their fix and Stav got in a nap.
He was formally introduced to the Church this Sunday. He slept through the service but was personally shown around by Pappou downstairs.

Stav's First Walk - Sunday in the Fall...
We decided that since it was sooooo nice out, it was time to fire up the stroller. We giggled and laughed at how cute he was all bundled up like a pumpkin. Yiayia showed up for the last half of the walk -- and Stav slept through the entire thing.

Eyes Wide Shut
One week old and Stav has slept through the night with us! Alexis has him on a great schedule and Stavros seems to like it. With everyone resting now, it's fairly smooth sailing. Stavros lets us know what he needs with a couple of little coos and then he's happy again. I watched this morning as he picked his own head up and turned it to the other side. It's all amazing to me...

Five Days of Stav!

This is one happy baby! Between his feedings and naps, Stavros is meeting all the family and friends. Nights are getting better now that the days are filled with so much more activity. We're also starting to decipher his few cries and can anticipate his needs fairly well. A much more regimented schedule is certain to follow...

A Toronto Wedding!

We spent last Saturday and Sunday in our Neighbor to the North. I love Toronto. We were at a wedding reception on Saturday and had all of Sunday to visit with family and take our time getting back to home. A short stop in Niagra Falls on the Canada side was fun but all of the Soccer fans were busy slowing down traffic. See the pictures here.

Hey!
Well isn't that funny, I assumed you were distracting someone else. When
Jim told me you weren't, I asked him why you didn't call me. So, now that
we have that out of the way, have a blast in FLA and buzz me when you get back.
Thanks for coming to the festival -- I think it qualified as a big fat Greek
success. Hooray!!!

Napa!

Napa was so far beyond what I had in mind. For some, it would be a fabulous weekend of sights, food and wine. For myself, it was more of a pilgrimage.
We were so lucky to share it together with Jess and Russ. Click here for the pictures...
We also have a little Vlog from (The University of) Joseph Phelps

Make your reservations!
JHW - Jamestown is definitelythe closest, but.... only US Airway can get you here and only via Pittsburgh.
BUF - Buffalo is probably the most direct for many. It is an hour and twenty minutes away by car, and a very easy drive.
ERI - Erie is closer than Buffalo (about 45 minutes) and also a pretty easy drive.
The Hotels
Reserve by September 9th!
We have set aside rooms at all three of the hotels below. Let them know you are making a reservation for the Theofilactidis – Singleton Wedding and they will extend you the rates we have negotiated.
Best Western - $65/night. On Third St. across from the new Ice Arena. It’s the newest hotel in town, and also the closest to the Church. Continental Breakfast – with Belgian Waffle – is included. There is a Pool! (716) 484-8400.
Holiday Inn - $75/night. 150 W. Fourth Street. Also near the Church. There is a Pool! (800) 528-8791.
Comfort Inn - $79/night. On Main St. / Route 60. Very close to Alexis’ house and the entrance to the I-86. No pool. (716) 664-5920.
Dining
Forte! - Of course we recommend Todd’s restaurant on Third Street, next door to the Civic Center. We are open on Friday and Saturday nights from 5:30. Not open on Sunday.
Wegmans – On Fairmount Ave. in Lakewood. Easily the best grocery store ever and where we bumped into each other hours before our first date! The best bagels, yummy juices (Bolthouse Farms Fresh Juices), and say “hi” to Martha at the Coffee Bar!
Taco Hut – Just a tortilla’s throw from Forte! With all the usual Mexican fare at a family-friendly price. Full bar, too. Not open on Sunday.
Kaldi’s – Coffee and sandwiches a couple doors down from Forte! with outdoor seating. (Alexis loves the Chai Latte and Chicken Gorgonzola Salad.) Not open on Sunday.
Golden Gate – Fresh and delicious sandwiches made by a sweet couple. Good bread! Not open on Sunday.
Bob Evan’s – Next to the Comfort Inn as you come into Jamestown.
Tim Horton’s – In Brooklyn Square, on the corner of Main and Harrison Streets. Todd’s favorite! 24 Hours.
Friendly’s Restaurant – In Brooklyn Square, on the corner of Main and Harrison Streets. Admittedly not our favorite, but it’s there.
Attractions
Lucy-Desi Museum and Desilu Playhouse – The Museum is right around the corner from Forte!, and the brand-new Playhouse is just down the street on the corner of Main and Third.
Roger Tory Peterson Institute – A beautiful place to take in some nature and maybe a walk.
The Reg – Our beautifully restored Civic Center right next door to Forte! Our local Bunbury Theater Co will be performing Fuddy Meers, a play by David Lindsey-Albaire at 7:30 on Saturday October 8th. Tickets are $10 at the box office.
Kinzua Dam – For nature enthusiasts. Stunning views in the heart of the Alleghany Forest, 6 miles from Warren on Route 59. About a 35-minute drive from Jamestown.
Chautauqua Institution – The mother of all gated communities. The season ended in August, so admission is free and the place is interesting to see. It is right on the lake and sure to have some gorgeous fall foliage going on. A must for history buffs.
Bemus Point -- On good old Chautauqua Lake, and the place where George and Kathy really should live. You can be sure to see them during almost any sunset of the summer. A tourist-y town that is home to Candy and her shop……
Shopping – it may not be Park Avenue, but…
The White Picket Fence – our friend Candy’s cool and hip gift shop in Bemus Point. Follow I-86 West to Bemus Point. If you run out of road, you just passed it. Worth the 10-minute drive! There are a few other shops in that quaint neighborhood, too. You’ll probably see George and Kathy there!
Chautauqua Mall – if you forgot to pack socks, this is probably the place to find some. In Lakewood (5-10 minutes). Usual assortment of mall stores from Radio Shack to Vicky’s! Lots of other retail on Fairmount Ave, too.

See You In The Funny Papers

We've been in all the papers by now. I really get a thrill out of it. For ever, I've seen other people in the Halls of Ivy section - and now it's us...
We also went and registered with a good bunch of places. You'll see them over at the right side of the page.
We just got back from Tim Rafael & Chryssanthe Pappas wedding in Jamaica NY. Laz and Courtney joined us at a beautiful wedding and it really put us in the mood. We were even recognized during the wedding as the "next ones up" during the ceremony by Father Nick! Nothing gets your sweat glands pumping like getting called out in church. What a great weekend... Thanks Tim & Chrys.

We're moving right along with plans and I thought I should post the map - not that you need it - but because Alexis made such a cool one!

Vegas, Baby!

No - we didn't run off and elope...
We DID run ourselves to exhaustion with the heat! Heather ran with us for half the time and helped celebrate the best birthday I've ever had. Thanks again for the usual blast, Heath!
Here we are at Tangerine at the TI just after the Sirens show.
Vegas is fantastic - but home is the best.

The Details
The hotel was the Renaissance in downtown Pittsburgh. The top floor with the enormous veranda -- absolutely gorgeous. It was Sunday morning and we were just kickin' it over coffee that Todd made (after flooding the coffee maker by forgetting to put the lid to the pot on - oops!). Of course one pot is never enough, so Todd went in to make another pot. And to get a little box. After a few minutes of pacing inside, he came out with a perfectly brewed pot of Seattle's Best and poured a mug. Then he puts his arm around me, and says "Isn't it beautiful up here? Let's celebrate today. Do you want to celebrate?" [little kiss] I say "yes." He says, "Do you want to celebrate all week?" [a little bigger kiss] I say "yes." He says, "Do you want to celebrate all month with me?" Naturally, I say "yes!" He says, "Do you want to celebrate the rest of your life with me?" Then he pulls back a little as I am lifting my head for the next kiss and he pulls a ring box out of his pocket. Dumbed by diamonds (round brilliants), I say "Aaaaaah! What are you doing? Uh, yes!" [big kiss!!!]
So there you go. The ring is b-lingy and mine. No worries girls, because I really do love it! He didn't propose to me in a restaurant, which would have been a bit cliche and cheesy for a chef. And he did it at the moment I least expected.
After the ecstatic phone calls to Mom and Dad (who were in Church when the phone rang!) and to Laz and Court (when I was jumping up and down on the bed) and to Metes and Tif (who scared us to death the next day), I realized that Todd did not get down on one knee! So I called a do-over, but then he got down on both, so I just gave up on that idea and was glad he proposed period. (Todd's note: At that point, I would have stood on my head but it was spinning too much from the moment.)

A brisk Fall day in a teddy bear outfit!
